HGT delivers streamlined terminal operations for all shipping line customers and brings together a portfolio of 22 port terminals and complementary logistics services in 12 countries and on four continents: Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. The position

Hanseatic Global Terminals is seeking an entry-level, temporary (6-month) trainee to join the Financial Planning & Analysis team. The role focuses on leading financial data analysis and building dashboards that turn raw data into strategic insights for the business. You will be responsible for maintaining the current financial database, ensuring data updates, and consistency throughout the organization. You will also work closely with controlling planning processes and assist in the implementation of upcoming strategic projects. This position is based at the HGT Headquarters in Rotterdam and reports to the Manager of FP&A and Digitalization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the financial database to ensure structural consistency and timely data refreshes.
  • Automate data flows and reporting routines to maximize efficiency and ensure data integrity.
  • Design and maintain financial dashboards that effectively visualize complex data.
  • Transform raw data into clear, standardized reports that provide immediate strategic insights.
  • Execute financial analysis to directly support controlling activities and planning processes.
  • Lead review sessions to present data-driven insights and recommendations to the controlling team.
  • Partner with the team to implement and support upcoming strategic FP&A projects.

Job requirements

  • Recent graduates in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
  • Basic experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI (mandatory).
  • Solid understanding of SQL and general database structures (mandatory).
  • Comfortable working with Excel.
  • Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, C++, or JavaScript).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data environments, including data lakes and data warehouses.
  • Basic knowledge of corporate finance concepts is considered an asset.
