Reports to Senior Manager Stowage Planning

Overview:

The Stowage Planner is responsible for managing vessel stowage planning to ensure safe,

efficient, and optimized operations. This includes maximizing vessel space utilization,

supporting port productivity, and ensuring compliance with SOLAS, ISM, IMDG, and all

Hapag-Lloyd internal guidelines. The role requires close coordination with internal and

external stakeholders to deliver stowage plans that balance operational efficiency, safety,

and cost-effectiveness.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Develop stowage plans ensuring compliance with vessel safety and cargo

requirements.

·         Optimize vessel operations during port stay by maximizing crane intensity and

reducing idle time.

·         Monitor vessel capacity in coordination with Network Execution and Cargo Control.

·         Address queries from internal stakeholders and provide technical input on stowage

operations.

·         Execute Change of Destination (COD) requests, assessing cost, additional moves,

and operational impacts.

·         Ensure hazardous cargo stowage complies with IMDG code and internal safety

standards.

·         Validate and confirm feasibility of stowage for special cargo (OOG, breakbulk),

highlighting lost slots if applicable.

·         Compare booking status vs. forecast and validate against vessel capacity.

·         Manage allocation control (Hapag vs. partners), ensuring balance with product

management.

·         Provide calculations on vessel stability, trim, shear forces, torsion, bending

moment, draft, and air draft (ensuring seaworthiness).

·         Circulate BAPLIE files and ensure accurate distribution to relevant stakeholders.

·         Maintain clear and professional communication across stakeholders and terminals.

·         Liaise closely with terminals before and during operations to ensure stowage plan

execution.

 

Qualifications:

            Required:

·         Graduate in any Discipline.

·         Prior experience in Liner Stowage Planning or Terminal Planning one to two years

·         Strong analytical and systematic working style under pressure.

·         Fluent in written and spoken English, with strong communication skills.

·         Proficiency in AI, Automation

Preferred (Not Mandatory):

·         Familiarity with stowage systems in port/terminal environment.

·         Knowledge of Hapag-Lloyd systems (CAPSTAN, FIS).
