Main Objective

As a key member of the Controlling team in Region Asia, you will support the team with data-based analysis of financial-relevant issues and in the development of tools to support department processes. Support in designing, developing, and implementing analytics solutions to support financial controlling in Region Asia. You will combine technical expertise (Qlik Sense, Databricks, SQL, Python) with an understanding of financial reporting requirements (result closing, budgeting, variance analysis).

Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Design, develop, and deploy BI solutions (e.g. Qlik Sense, Databricks) to deliver financial dashboards, KPI tracking, and automated reporting.

  • Develop an understanding of financial drivers, industry dynamics, and cost structures to provide relevant controlling insights. e.g., P&L analysis, cost allocation, variance analysis, and forecasting.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders (Management, HQ Controlling, Operations, Commercial) to gather requirements and translate them into technical BI solutions.

  • Through data-based analyses and visualizations, you will support the Controlling team in deep-dive tasks.

  • Ensure data quality, reconciliation, and alignment between controlling reports and accounting/financial systems.

  • Leverage SQL and Python to automate analytics workflows and deliver deeper insights.

  • Provide technical guidance on BI best practices, including data modelling, data storytelling, and visualisation standards.

  • Coach and support regional users in adopting BI dashboards and reporting standards.

  • Stay up to date with BI and analytics trends (e.g. cloud platforms, predictive modelling) and assess applicability for controlling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.

  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in BI/analytics development, ideally supporting finance or controlling functions.

  • Proven experience with BI tools (e.g. Qlik Sense, Power BI, Tableau), including financial data modelling, visualisation, and storytelling.

  • Strong skills in SQL and advanced Excel; familiarity with ERP/financial systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar).

  • Good understanding of financial data and processes (budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, ERP/financial systems such as SAP).

  • Experience leading analytics initiatives, including mentoring colleagues and ensuring adherence to BI best practices.

  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to explain technical outputs in business terms.

  • Ability to prioritise multiple projects in a fast-paced, global environment.

Advantageous Skillsets

  • Experience with data governance, quality, and security frameworks.

  • Familiarity with advanced analytics (predictive forecasting, scenario modelling, machine learning).

  • Professional certification in BI, analytics, or finance (e.g. Certified Analytics Professional, CPA, CFA).

  • Knowledge of the shipping or logistics industry.
