Reports to Director Sales (Sub-region Africa)

Overview:

The African Commodity Sales Senior Manager is responsible for developing and implementing cross-trade strategies to drive revenue growth, improve customer satisfaction, and increase market share in the Africa sub-region. The role will serve as a critical bridge between the X-Trade office and African Origins, working closely with traders, suppliers, and other stakeholders to drive business growth and success. This role will play a key part in creating an Africa community around the world, fostering strong relationships with traders, suppliers, and other stakeholders to drive business growth and success.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cross-trade strategies to achieve sales targets and maximize customer satisfaction
  • Analyze sales performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key traders, suppliers, and other stakeholders to drive business growth and success
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the African commodities market to inform strategies and optimize revenue growth
  • Collaborate with sales teams to develop and implement upselling and cross-selling strategies to increase revenue and improve customer satisfaction
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to optimize cross-trade and export processes

 

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Sales Management, Marketing or related field preferred
  • 10 -12 years of work experience in sales management or related field, with a focus on inland sales, preferably in the shipping or logistics industry
  • Advanced English. Other languages desirable. Industry knowledge (shipping).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proven track record of sales excellence and team management, with a focus on driving revenue growth and improving customer satisfaction
  • Familiarity with Hapag-Lloyd's systems and processes.
  • Sales analytics and reporting
  • Strong understanding of the African commodities market, including trends, prices, and trading patterns
  • Project management.
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with traders, suppliers, and other stakeholders
  • Frequent travel to African counties to meet teams and customers
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders around the world
  • Proven leadership experience having successfully managed teams,
  • Exceptional ability to inspire and motivate people.
  • High customer and results orientation, with a focus on driving revenue growth and improving customer satisfaction
  • Experience in negotiating and delivering results, with a focus on achieving sales targets and improving sales performance
