Overview

The General Manager is responsible for the safety, financial, and operational performance of CNMP in Le Havre, France. Reporting to HGT’s leadership, the role focuses on optimizing terminal efficiency, ensuring profitability, and maintaining a strong safety culture. The General Manager will work closely with corporate support functions and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and long-term success. The GM is also responsible for pursuing goals set by HGT leadership, including optimizing volume and maximizing contribution to the group while ensuring these objectives are effectively communicated and cascaded throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety first – Ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors, aiming for zero high-potential incidents;
  • Deliver budgeted financial results, ensuring cost control and revenue optimization;
  • Oversee daily terminal operations, ensuring high levels of productivity, reliability, and predictability;
  • Maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring high satisfaction among shipping lines and landside customers;
  • Ensure high-quality asset maintenance, with a proactive and timely approach;
  • Work closely with HGT’s corporate support functions, aligning with group policies and leveraging global expertise;
  • Develop and lead a high-performing team, fostering accountability and efficiency;
  • Maintain a constructive relationship with unions, ensuring smooth labor relations;
  • Lead, motivate, and inspire a lean and cost-efficient organization while developing its talent;
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and local policies, including personnel management, operations, vendor oversight, and financial governance;
  • Build and maintain industry networks, engaging with key stakeholders to identify business opportunities;
  • Promote structured internal communication, including town halls and feedback sessions to foster a collaborative work environment;
  • Drive improvements in customer satisfaction by ensuring superior service and a strong customer focus across teams;
  • Oversee budget development and supervision, ensuring figures meet or exceed financial expectations;
  • Maintain strong relationships with shareholders, including HGT and Seafrigo, ensuring alignment and collaboration on key strategic initiatives;
  • Ensure the efficient and reliable handling of Gemini services, maintaining service quality and operational excellence.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience in the container terminal industry;
  • Proven track record in a Managing Director or senior operational role;
  • Strong understanding of terminal operations, aligning strategy with execution;
  • Experience in financial management, cost control, and business development;
  • Ability to navigate union environments and maintain positive labor relations;
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively with multiple stakeholders;
  • Fluent in French; English proficiency required.
