The roughly 2.600 employees assigned to the Terminal & Infrastructure segment deal with terminal-related activities and provide complementary logistics services at selected locations.

Main Objective

  • The BSD Manager acts as a strategic partner to business units within Region Asia, providing expert guidance & support on system utilization, process adherence, and continuous improvement initiatives, while ensuring efficient and effective operations within Hapag-Lloyd.
  • This role will champion regional perspectives in global projects, contributing expertise on local processes and system requirements. Additionally, the incumbent will lead and support regional initiatives focused on process optimization, system enhancements, and organizational effectiveness
  • Furthermore, this role will actively participate in Hapag-Lloyd's Systems & digital transformation journey, ensuring seamless adoption and integration of new tools & technologies within RAS

Responsibilities

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and system enhancements within the region, collaborating with business units and IT to implement solutions that drives operational efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the Region Asia, by working with the Super User network to enhance effectiveness.

Systems & Application Support:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact in RAS offices regarding the utilization of Hapag-Lloyd's  systems, providing expert guidance on system functionality, troubleshooting, and user training.
  • Ensure that system usage aligns with established business processes and best practices in RAS.
  • Collaborate with Area/QSC and IT to integrate new systems and change requests with existing systems and processes. Coordinate and participate in (UAT) to ensure successful system rollouts
  • Provide business support for Hapag-Lloyd applications, systems, tools, and digital products, including EDI, API, and HL online business tools
  • Support the integration of new digital tools and technologies into existing business processes

Process Adherence & Support:

  • Support business units in the adherence to established business processes by providing guidance on system utilization and best practices.
  • Identify and communicate potential gaps between system functionality and process requirements.
  • Assist business units in resolving process-related issues.
  • Manage and safeguard system access levels to ensure compliance and secure interactions across applications
  • Conduct process reviews in Areas/QSCs to identify improvement opportunities through process analysis, automation (RPA/Macros), BI Tools (QV/QS), digitalization, and best practices sharing

Change Management & Training:

  • Support the implementation of system and process changes within the region, ensuring effective communication, user training, and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure that Super Users are informed about new applications and system enhancements
  • Coach, train, and evaluate Super Users in Areas/QSCs 

Regional & Global Projects:

  • Represent Region Asia in global projects related to system ideation and development, Contribute expert knowledge on regional business processes, system requirements, and operational challenges
  • Lead and support regional projects focused on process optimization, system enhancements, organizational changes, standardization and analytics
  • Act as internal consultant on cross functional initiatives related to processes and systems 

Process/System Transformation & Innovation:

  • Actively participate in the ideation, evaluation & implementation of new systems and technologies
  • Become an expert on Hapag-Lloyd’s technical tools and platforms made available by the IT organization, identifying usability potential in RAS
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies to identify potential solutions to business needs 

Requirements

  • A university degree, preferably in Supply Chain/Logistics Management, Information Systems, or Business Administration, with over 5 years of relevant experience
  • Solid knowledge of Hapag-Lloyd's organization, systems, and tools, with experience in various shipping processes (e.g., Booking, Export, Import, Operations, Sales, Finance, etc) .
  • Experience with EDI connectivity, APIs and digital products is an added advantage
  • A self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to take ownership
  • Experience in project/process management
  • Technical aptitude and willingness to learn new applications
  • Experience as a Trainer is a plus
  • Problem solving, Data analytical skills
  • Availability to travel on short notice
