Overall Responsibility:

 

Efficient & Cost-effective management of the Company’s shipping operations in Africa.

 

·       Responsible Maintaining Cargo Related & Empty costs within budget

·       Must ensure Ops team in Africa maintain systems as levels required by HLC

·       Responsible for all terminal and vendor Contracts in Africa.

·       Ensure Ops team maintain QEM standards

·       Vessel and container operational productivity.  Landside and Hinterland Operational Control

Management

·             Management of the Department includes evaluation of staff and recruitment.

·       Area Africa point of entry for proforma schedule discussion and operating procedures with Region and global operations.

·       Responsible that operating procedures are adhered to by terminals, Hapag-Lloyd, agency offices and partner lines.

·       Responsible and co-ordinates day-to-day operational issues for Hapag-Lloyd.

·       Responsible for the co-ordination of coastal schedules on all Africa Services.

·       Supervision and control of special cargoes including stowage proposals.

·       Evaluates and controls all Statistics/Reports for Hapag-Lloyd operations in Africa in conjunction with OPSS.

·       Responsible and oversees communication of schedule data for all Services, including maintenance of long term schedules in                 FIS, updating schedule changes on a daily basis for changes greater than 1 day and posting of coastal schedules.

·       Public Officer for local company.

·       Compliance officer for Area.

 

Technical Competencies:

 

            Degree in Operations Management or Maritime Qualification to Chief Officer level or equivalent.

•        Advanced Excel.

•          Must be able to work in multiple systems (FIS, SAP, BEX, Hyperion Analyzer, Compass, QlikView, Qlik                   sense, Tableau Reader etc.

•          7 – 10 years’ experience in Maritime Transport Industry.

•           3 – 4 years in senior management position
