AWS Financial Analyst

 

Position Summary

The Cloud Financial Analyst is responsible for optimizing the overall cloud spend, analyzing spend patterns, establishing SWAT teams to deep dive into high cost areas to arrive at corrective / preventive actions

 

Job Description

  • Financial planning and analysis, including forecasting, budgeting, and modeling for AWS services and large-scale investment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build financial plans and provide deep analytics to support strategic decisions.
  • Create, improve, and maintain financial metrics, reports, and scorecards for consolidation and stakeholder communication.
  • Identify and implement cloud cost optimization opportunities, including evaluation of third-party tools and staying informed about AWS pricing changes.

·       Prepare regular financial reports on AWS spend, conduct in-depth analysis of cloud costs and usage patterns, and provide actionable insights.

·       Enable self-service capabilities for consumers and executives to manage current and forecasted spend.

 

Additional Responsibilities 

·       Rightsizing: Analyze AWS resource utilization, recommend optimal instance types and sizes, and implement and monitor rightsizing initiatives for ongoing cost efficiency.

·       Savings Plans: Evaluate, recommend, and manage AWS Savings Plans while forecasting future compute usage to maximize cost savings.

·       Capacity Management: Develop forecasting models, collaborate with engineering teams, and implement proactive strategies to optimize AWS resource capacity.

·       Defines strategy and modelling around use of reserved instances, on-demand, and spot usage of EC2 (virtual servers)

 

Skills

·       Require 7-9 years of technology experience.

·       At least 3-4 years of experience in AWS Cloud Operations with large multinational organisations.

·       Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field

·       3+ years of finance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

·       Experience in cloud computing, specifically with AWS services

·       Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling

·       Strong financial acumen including advanced accounting knowledge and experience with forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis

·       Financial modelling, P&L management and/or analysis experience

·       Experienced in working with business partners and multiple stakeholders

·       Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills

·       Preferable to have AWS Cloud Practitioner and AWS Cloud Economics certifications

·       Experience with data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access) and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP)

·       Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex financial information clearly
