The objective of this position is to ensure the necessary project controls systems and measures are being developed, implemented and managed across the Hanseatic Global Terminals portfolio of projects. The senior manager project controls will have a cross-functional and cross-project view at projects, will safeguard the flow of quality information through the projects, will ensure the health of projects is accurately monitored and will provide standardized tools ensuring successful delivery of projects targeting scope, schedule, budget and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the development of the project implementation framework for bigger, multi-disciplinary projects like larger brownfield expansions/retrofits and greenfield terminal projects. This includes the development, implementation and control of the following core elements:
- the project master plan/project execution plan standard, providing an overview of the full context of projects;
- the (detailed) project scope and underlying assumptions (WBS based);
- the integrated project schedule;
- the risk and change management system;
- the documentation management system;
- the project metrics to provide stakeholders with accurate performance information;
- the standards for (progress) reporting to internal and external stakeholders;
- the standards for (progress) meetings, ensuring actions get identified/addressed.
- Identify relevant extracts of the project implementation framework to be considered for the implementation of categorized smaller and/or single discipline projects;
- Translate the business development financial models into project budgets and define the process to control same;
- Continuously identify opportunities for improving the project and outline high level scenario planning to create full understand of options available;
- Continuously identify mitigations for delays, potential budget overruns or compromised quality of the deliverables by liaising with functional owners;
- Interpret and challenge supplier/subcontractor performance metrics (schedules, risk registers, change requests, EVM reporting etc.);
- Define, organize, facilitate regular as well as ad hoc project stage gate reviews and readiness assessments;
- Maintain lessons learned register, embed good practices;
- Enable active engagement and effective coordination between functional work streams within the project as well as between stakeholders on corporate and project level;
- Participate in project audits and peer reviews as required;
- Ensure full integration of the project and (future) running business objectives.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience, preferable in large scale complex projects with multiple stakeholders and inter-dependencies, minimum 5 years of program/project controls experience;
- Project management certification (e.g. PMI, Prince2, IPMA, MSP) and scheduling software proficiency (like Primavera P6); contract management software proficiency (like PMWeb) would be a plus;
- Holistic thinker, taking helicopter view, understanding the whole of projects before individual details;
- Strong planning skills and high analytical capabilities;
- Highly disciplined/structured, following through on identified and agreed actions;
- Ability to build strong working relationships, can work easily with a diversity of people, is a skilled communicator;
- Delivers results, high quality awareness;
- Fluency in English language.
