Your Tasks & Responsibilities

Joining the Finance Program at Hapag-Lloyd offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into our core finance departments. Over 18 months, you'll build a strong foundation in areas like Accounting, Controlling, Treasury & Finance and M&A, while also getting exposure to Legal, Tax, and Audit topics. You'll sharpen skills in financial modeling and communication, alongside gaining practical experience in critical project topics. The program focuses on integrating you into our organization, connecting you with various teams, and fostering both personal and professional growth - equipping you with the tools you need to start a successful finance career.

During the 18-month traineeship at Hapag-Lloyd you will

  • Get hands-on experience in all key financial areas of Hapag-Lloyd AG
  • Actively support day-to-day tasks to build a solid understanding of financial processes and strategies
  • Assist in preparing annual reports, financial statements (annual and quarterly), management reports, and participate in budget planning and forecasting
  • Take ownership of smaller projects and contribute to larger, ongoing projects
  • Gain insights into Treasury & Finance activities such as cash management, liquidity planning and risk management
  • Additionally work on M&A projects, including business case analysis and due diligence, and participate in audits to understand internal controls and governance processes

Your profile

  • Completed master’s degree in finance or a related field with top-notch academic results
  • First practical experience in finance is preferred
  • Passion for finance and numbers - with a strong analytical mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
  • Team-oriented personality, ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt quickly to new situations
  • Proactive attitude, ready to tackle challenges and create innovative solutions
  • International experience is required
