Your responsibilities:

We are looking for a new colleague to join our global Sustainability team and help us drive our sustainability strategy. As part of our Strategy 2030 we have committed ourselves to become a Sustainability Driver in our industry and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions in line with the 1.5°C pathway.

In this new role you will play a crucial part in our sustainability journey and drive a portfolio of interdisciplinary projects. Project management, an analytical working style, and teamwork should not be foreign to you as you will be engaging with the operational departments to find innovative approaches to decarbonize our operations and continuously develop our sustainability strategy.   • Build up new project team within the Sustainability department acting as business partner to operational departments and driving projects to support our strategic sustainability agenda
  • Run projects or modules in important workstreams in sustainability-related projects including managing the implementation of our decarbonization strategy as part of Hapag-Lloyd‘s Strategy 2030
  • Ensure delivery of ongoing sustainability projects and activities, by setting up & leading an overarching project governance and active interventions
  • Support and work with project stakeholders, e. g. senior Hapag-Lloyd managers, in a true “business partner” fashion (collaborative but challenging)
  • Build up project management capabilities & systems as well as analytics within the sustainability area
  • Develop qualitative & quantitative insights and seek innovative solutions to support driving the development of our sustainability agenda
  • Contribute to Hapag-Lloyd thought leadership on sustainability topics – e.g., from regulatory to commercial matters, in competitor reviews and market analyses
  • Deliver ad-hoc analyses and convincing presentations for Hapag-Lloyd’s senior management

Your profile:

  • University degree, e. g. in economics, logistics, engineering, natural sciences, sustainability or a comparable subject (or equivalent education) with excellent results
  • Multi-year experience in managing projects and leading teams in interdisciplinary setup; experience in implementing sustainability-related projects as clear advantage
  • Enthusiastic about sustainability and eager to build the business case for sustainability as part of core business and decision-making processes
  • Strong team player and able to convince colleagues & team members of new approaches paired with goal-oriented way of working with a high level of commitment and flexibility
  • Very strong and independent analytical thinker with a systematic & inventive mindset and a strong business sense
  • Strong communication skills and experience in communicating with various audiences including top management
  • Proficient use of MS Office suite, ideally with experience in analytics and BI tools such as Qlik or Power BI
  • High level of spoken and written English language skills
