Reports to Senior Director Regional Operations

Overall Job Purpose:

The Director of Equipment Operations is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of empty equipment-related operations across the Middle East, Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent. This role is crucial to ensuring the effective balancing of supply and demand, in line with the company’s global equipment strategy and commercial goals. The role will collaborate closely with multiple departments and headquarters to ensure seamless operations, while also focusing on building a high-performing, engaged team, and leading with a servant leadership mindset.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • ·        Strategic Oversight: Lead all empty equipment-related operations across the region, ensuring alignment with the global equipment strategy to balance supply and demand effectively.
  • ·        Cost Efficiency: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising operational quality, optimizing the use of equipment to reduce expenses.
  • ·        Coordination: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including commercial, operations, and HQ, to ensure smooth and efficient execution of empty equipment operations.
  • ·        Transformation: Take ownership in driving process and system knowledge/adherence to increase efficiency & automation
  • ·        Proactive Planning: Anticipate equipment needs to avoid any shortfall in commercial areas by ensuring timely equipment availability across all markets by aligning closely with all relevant stakeholders.
  • ·        Optimization of Equipment Turn Time: Maintain minimal stock levels to increase equipment turnaround time, improving overall operational efficiency and minimizing cost impact.
  • ·        Equipment Maintenance & Compliance: Ensure all empty equipment is well-maintained, operationally efficient, compliant with industry regulations, and managed cost-effectively.
  • ·        Servant Leadership: Foster a culture of servant leadership, prioritizing the development and success of team members while empowering them to take ownership of their work.
  • ·        Team Building: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing and engaged team, promoting a positive work environment that drives both individual and collective success.
  • ·        Performance Management: Set clear performance goals for the team and external suppliers, conducting regular reviews to track performance, improve outcomes, and address any gaps, with a focus on cost efficiency and quality.
