Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT) is the new Terminal & Infrastructure Division of Hapag-Lloyd, founded in 2023. HGT delivers streamlined terminal operations for all shipping line customers and brings together a portfolio of 20 port terminals and complementary logistics services in 11 countries and on four continents: Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. We will be pursuing growth and set ourselves the target of operating 30 terminals by 2030.

About the Position

The Commercial and Marketing Director within the Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT) is responsible for developing and executing HGT’s  marketing strategies, managing external communications, and overseeing commercial planning and pricing strategies to drive business growth and profitability. This function is located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop branding strategy in a B2B setting, matched to the emerging organization of HGT
  • Map all relevant industry fora, exhibitions and other events and determine, coordinate and 
    execute presence and/or participation across HGT and its entities together with HGT’s 
    functions as relevant;
  • Develop and maintain standards for all graphical elements of the HGT brand including, if applicable, future usage of the brand or variations of it by entities;
  • Develop and maintain a library of relevant corporate giveaways including annual events 
    (Christmas, Ramadan, etc) and material for corporate representation at internal and 
    external events
  • Develop and execute communication strategy across social media channels and HGT’s 
    website;
  • Manage all internal and external communications;
  • Conduct market research and closely follow market developments in all markets relevant 
    to HGT, providing relevant insights to HGT Board and Head of Business Development;
  • Define minimum expectations and best practices for terminal-level Pricing Revenue Management, review and spar actively with terminals where appropriate.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in commercial and marketing roles (>5 years); preferred experience 
    involving holding a corporate function role from similar organizations;
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or related field;
  • Knowledge of terminal businesses, ideally of Container Terminals and associated 
    Containerized logistics;
  • Strong communication and teamwork qualities, as well as confident attitude when 
    interacting with Senior Management and customers;
  • Ability to challenge and improve current processes, financial results and strategic plans;
  • Proven experience as a leader and genuine interest in developing people and teams;
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools and CRM systems;
  • Demonstrated skills associated with
    • Strategic planning and execution;
    • Data analysis and market research;
    • Brand management;
    • Digital marketing;
    • Pricing strategy and analysis.
