As a member of the Platforms leadership team, you will guide your teams to provide an excellent foundation for our core IT system, the Freight Information System. This includes both: the platform for our developers (to create FIS applications) and our users (to work with the FIS applications). While maintaining the current mainframe-based platform, your focus will be on the transition to our new, cloud-centered environments, tools, and libraries.

Your responsibilities:

  • Close collaboration with all IT departments to assure a strategic fit of overall IT strategy and platform developments – you define and align the strategy for all aspects of the above-mentioned scope with the stakeholders
  • You communicate effectively on different levels to keep the organization informed about initiatives in your scope, progress, and challenges
  • Leading the Hamburg-based IT teams FIS Core and FIS Cloud, and functionally leading the Release Management team located in the Gdansk Knowledge Center:
    • You structure the teams, care for individual development and growth of your team members
    • With those teams you provide the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) including Java based common libraries, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure (Mainframe and AWS/ Kubernetes), and tools for our developers
    • Here you also define and manage the productive FIS Platform environments for our users
  • Partner & Vendor management (esp. 3rd party software and consultancy partners):
    • You are responsible for license and consulting contracts, and you manage and monitor the correct execution
  • Backlog & innovation portfolio management, regular maintenance & support as well as corresponding budgets:
    • You prioritize the high-level tasks of your teams along the strategic goals including technology evaluation and implementation
    • You plan and align the budget with a focus on efficient spending
  • Resource Management:
    • You ensure efficient use of the resources in your scope by establishing, measuring and managing relevant key indicators
  • Governance and Compliance:
    • In collaboration with our Security, Audit, and Legal departments you ensure adherence to relevant standards and best practices
