The Business Intelligence & Analytics team designs and builds analytics solutions to provide insightful answers to our colleagues worldwide. We work in small, cross-functional teams jointly with specialists across the business. You share an office with a diverse team of likeminded Data Scientists, Visualization Experts, Data Engineers and colleagues with in-depth knowledge about our business.

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide dotted-line chapter leadership to Hapag-Lloyd’s team of Data Engineers, focusing on mentoring, skill development, and collaboratively setting strong practices
  • Onboard and continuously develop our Data Engineers who are part of their respective integrated, cross-skilled BI/ Analytics teams – especially along the transition from our legacy on-prem tooling to our cloud-based tooling
  • Design the data modelling strategy for our new, cloud-based Data Lakehouse along Hapag-Lloyd’s strategic priorities together with the relevant teams
  • Establish and document best practices around data pipeline design, release processes, monitoring, reliability, and data quality assurance
  • Develop career opportunities within the Data Engineering sphere and attract and retain talented Data Engineers from inside and outside of Hapag-Lloyd
  • Provide requirements for the continuous improvement of our Data & AI Platform
  • Together with our dedicated PMO support the efficient transition of our Data Lakehouse assets from their current monolithic, on-prem source databases to the future cloud-based, modularized source databases
  • Drive a culture of technical excellence, quality, ownership, and cross-team collaboration

Your profile:

  • Significant experience in the Data Engineering space – ideally, in a Databricks/ Snowflake setting
  • Ideally, some experience with our legacy systems (IICS, DB2)
  • Passion and relevant experience to mentor and develop technical talents
  • Strong communicator and facilitator and the ability to collaboratively develop strong practices
  • Ability to build a strong team through indirect leadership
  • Drive to jointly establish industry-leading practices
  • Ability to work with international teams (Hamburg, Gdansk)
