We are looking for a Senior Coordinator Business Development / Area Sub Lead to join our sales team in Doha to be responsible for business development for Qatar and a defined sub-area within Area Arabian Gulf. Reporting to the Country Manager Qatar, with a functional reporting line to the Senior Manager Business Development for Area Arabian Gulf, you will serve as point of contact for our customers in Qatar and also functionally lead business development activities across the sub-area scope of countries. Your mission will be to secure, develop and maintain a portfolio of customers, understand our customers’ shipping needs and requirements, and effectively manage the end-to-end shipping process for our customers in Qatar and the sub-area countries.

Your responsibilities

  • Point of contact for customers within the Business Development segment in Qatar and sub-area, build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understand customers’ shipping needs and requirements, address enquiries and concerns and provide regular updates on shipment status
  • Monitor performance against budget / targets for the segment assigned.
  • Ensure effective rates are available in Quick Quotes for all the trade lanes.
  • Work closely with the Pricing team to ensure all rates are in place per market level.
  • Work to achieving sales targets by providing exceptional shipping solutions that align with clients' business objectives.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and implement solutions to ensure seamless shipping operations, addressing shipping-related challenges promptly and effectively, finding innovative solutions to minimise disruptions.
  • Maintain clear communication channels with clients, internal teams, and external partners to ensure transparency and timely updates, collaborating cross-functionally to resolve any issues.
  • Provide weekly / monthly equipment projection to the Equipment team for supply of Special Cargo equipment
  • Identify and develop customers, servicing and maintaining all accounts within Qatar/sub-area, manage and grow portfolio of customers and opportunities  
  • Promote Quick Quotes and all Hapag-Lloyd digital products
  • Log appointments, opportunities, customer details & contact in company’s CRM (Salesforce)
  • Monthly cycle of planning volumes by customer and trade relations
  • Conduct sales planning and performance management as defined in enhanced sales process efficiency
  • Selectively engage in Trade Management discussions on important and critical business maters
  • Feedback market information and service requirements to Sales Coordination and Customer Service Teams
  • Constantly and closely work with the Qatar sales team to ensure critical work is always supported and accomplished with trust and mutual dependability.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, company policies, procedures and quality standard.

Your profile

Successful criteria for this position:

  • Experience in front-line sales or business development, preferably in an international shipping context
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar sales development position
  • Experience working in a matrix organisation setup in a multinational company environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and Salesforce
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong understanding, appreciation and interest in digital shipping products, and effectively able to market an ever-expanding digital product & solution portfolio
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive attitude
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving sales targets and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work flexibly and under pressure, goal and deadline driven
  • Effective time management and planning skills
