Your responsibilities:

As “FIS Solution Architect (m/f/d)”, you design and facilitate the architectural migration path of a major monolithic solution towards decoupled self-contained systems. You support the multiple developer teams in following that path, identifying bounded contexts, conceptualizing evolutionary migration steps, and driving architectural issues. You care for the integration architecture, a holistic data view and communication mechanisms.

Having an ear on the developer teams concerns during the transformation journey, you pro-actively take up needs for architectural decisions, evaluate and prototype solution options, and drive implementation of decisions into the organization.

Your profound suggestions consider cost impact, complexity, and performance impact.

Thus, you are an all-rounder, who enjoys both - working with the platform team to provide the technological basis, the transformation program office, as well as with multiple developer teams. Therefore, you work simultaneously in multiple projects and foster the connection and architectural knowledge exchange within the organization.

Your tasks include: 

  • Detailing the evolutionary migration path towards decoupled self-contained systems
  • Continuous further architecting and developing the FIS architectural guidelines
  • Elaborating and implementing solution options for architectural requirements
  • Advising our development teams on the architectural design and migration of solutions
  • Serving the transformation program office with regards to migration strategy development and governance
  • Architectural support and interdisciplinary cooperation with IT teams and business stakeholders to clarify and solve cross-domain issues, and to govern architectural standards implementation

Your profile:

What you'll need to succeed

  • Deep knowledge and interest in architectural design of major software solutions as distributed systems and microservice architecture
  • Hands-on experience in major system migrations and transformation initiatives
  • Deep knowledge in integration architectures, event driven architecture, API management, data consistency solutions (e.g., SAGA pattern)
  • General experience in software development (especially Java/JEE), and CI/CD
  • Completed studies in computer science or comparable
  • Strong communication skills, self-responsibility and team player, being a bridge builder in a complex systems landscape between various IT teams and our business stakeholders
  • Very good command of written and spoken English
  • On-site work for at least 3 days/ week in our IT office in central Hamburg or Gdansk

German language expectations: We expect all international candidates to be willing to learn at least the basics of the German language in case they are accepted for the position. This will enable you to participate in social and community life in Germany and at our company premises in the best possible way.

Nice if you have:

  • Understanding of container shipping business is an advantage
  • Architect certification is appreciated
