Your responsibilities:

A tender is a formal and coordinated invitation to submit competitive rate offers, most often done in various negotiation rounds. The Global Tender Management team in Hamburg is overseeing, coordinating, and constantly enhancing the tender process of our biggest global accounts. We are keeping all threads and stakeholder requirements of the tender handling process together. During the peak season (from September to March) we are quite busy with tender negotiations for the following season. During the remaining year we are initiating projects and improving aspects of the tender process.

Tender business is Hapag-Lloyd`s volume backbone – be part of our team and take responsibility of our global tenders! 

  • Coordinating and supervising the whole tender process from receiving to submission, reviewing customer bid sheets and customer requirements, executing decisive quality checks before tender submission 
  • You will be the sounding board for tender requests globally and be in charge of presentation material and regular trainings on tender handling 
  • Consulting with stakeholders from Trade Management, Global Industry Management, Account Manager/Sales, Specials/Reefer/DG on all related topics and participating in tender kick-off calls 
  • Analyzing and evaluating customer own MFR formulas including recommendations and approvals  
  • Acting as business expert for the tender database in Salesforce and QV-Tender, constantly pushing enhancements of the Excel based Tender-Tool and Salesforce
  • Getting to know market potential of our biggest industry accounts by deep-diving into their bid sheets and transportation needs 
  • Preparing for and participating in face-to-face meetings with our tender accounts in final negotiation stage worldwide 
  • Analyzing tender accounts, verticals or total tender landscape by their bid, nomination and real values and providing results to Senior Management

Your profile:

  • Professional experience in Pricing or Sales   
  • Experienced in working with large excel sheets and data details 
  • Experienced in project work and working cross-functionally 
  • Ability to coordinate amongst stakeholders in a coordinated manner 
  • Ability to quickly learn working with tools & technologies (e.g. macro programming, Alteryx, QlikSense) 
  • Ability to communicate in a persuasive manner
  • Strong sense for analytical and data questions as well as reporting output
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Feel comfortable presenting in calls, being persuasive and representing tender process requirements
