Reports to Senior Managing Director RME

Overall Job Purpose:

  • Define and achieve financial targets while establishing and maintaining stable and compliant business administration processes and procedures for Finance, Accounting, Controlling, BSD, IT, Tax and Legal as well as the interfaces to other functions.
  • Establish a culture within the teams, that encourages customer centricity, innovation and agility, achieving excellent performance, ensuring a fair, integral, compliant and sustainable behaviour and empowering his/her direct reports and all other HL employees that triggers a continuous improvement of Hapag-Lloyd’s processes, projects and strategy.
  • Ensure that all Hapag-Lloyd policies and procedures as well as local applicable laws and regulations are followed, as well as the achievement of QEM targets set for the region.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Pursues goals set by the Senior Managing Director RME, such as Working Capital targets, overseeing budget performance and correct accounting as well as maximizing contribution for Hapag-Lloyd and clearly communicates them to his/her direct reports, ensuring the cascading of these objectives to the whole Region.
  • Drives, steers and deliver the Regional and Global Projects under his/her scope of responsibility.
  • Leads, motivates, and inspires a lean and cost-efficient organization.
  • Drives and steers each Area Performance on Business Administration topics. 
  • Ensures compliance of company and local business policies, personnel management, operations, and vendor management as well as related finances within his scope of responsibility.
  • Networks with key individuals throughout industry and major stakeholders in the market, to seize the best business opportunities for the company.
  • Encourages the organization to adhere to and achieve the targets set by the Quality & Environmental Management process (QEM).
  • Leads the correct and accurate flow of communications throughout the Region by organizing meetings with employees (workshops, etc.), promoting a healthy and constructive climate of bidirectional communications and feedback.
  • Drives changes in the Regional Business Administration departments that enable the delivery of superior value to HL customers that in turn translates into high levels of customer satisfaction and high NPS results.
  • Ensures the timely development of the yearly Business Administration Budget for the Region and Areas, closely supervising that all figures match and ideally exceed the expectations.
  • Achieves overall D&D targets for RME and drive initiatives through the year to further improve performance.
  • Oversees the execution of 3PA plans in RME and strengthen 3PA process control.
  • Strategy 2023 & 2030 initiatives.

Qualification & Skills:

  • University degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • 10-15 years in international shipping companies or other multinationals, preferably in BA departments.
  • Proven leadership experience having successfully managed large teams.
  • Exceptional ability to inspire and motivate people.
  • Capability to fluently speak, read and write in English - any other additional languages are a plus.
  • High customer and results orientation coupled with outstanding communication skills.
  • Experience in negotiating and delivering results.
  • Strong analytics and good organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
