Main Objective

  • Pivotal role in the organisation to drive ship system result.
  • Result improvement on individual trade lanes.
  • Analyse market feedback, macroeconomic and shipping data for opportunity management.
  • New product development and implementation/roll out.
  • Safeguarding marketshare and push for growth.

Function and duties

  • Responsible for utilizing network capacity and optimizing SSY result for the trade lane Asia – Africa.
  • Liaise with all Regional Sales and Areas to optimize services and customer requirements.
  • Short term pricing, guideline maintenance and online product enhancement with an eye on today’s vessel utilization.
  • Steering of cargo by customer and services in line with targeted cargo segmentation.
  • Responsible for future strategy and product improvements.
  • Functions also include:
    • Research and market analysis including regular analysis of market rates and volume
    • Planning of Hapag-Lloyd transport volume/pricing/contributions for the respective trade lanes in liaison with the respective Regions and Areas
    • Budget control for the Asia - Africa trade relations with respect to volume and revenue.
    • Assessment of customer performance against nomination and agreed cargo mix

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, or related discipline
  • At least 5 years of working experience in the shipping industry, preferably in Trade Management.
  • Africa knowledge in relation to shipping from Asia, and particular China, is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of the workflow and processes in the shipping/transportation industry
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, shipping ERP systems and online product development.

Special Tasks

  • Product launch, drive the growth on the specific subtrade lane Asia – West Africa.
  • Safeguard budget targets as well as growth path in Africa for the coming years.
  • Tenders; long term contract negotiations and performance review.
