We are looking for an Area Inland Sales Execution anchored in the Area Sales unit. This is a unique opportunity to work with Hapag-Lloyd Area leadership, to realize the full potential of the organization’s Inland business by owning the Inland customers in the Area.

Hapag-Lloyd has announced strong growth ambitions in the Inland business, aiming to approximately double its share of container shipments with an inland component to a target of 30% until 2025. To achieve this goal, we have decided to create this new role of Inland Sales Executive to focus and increase our commercial Inland efforts. You will cooperate with your Ocean Sales Executive colleagues to ensure that our customers – and those that are yet to be won over – become familiarized with of our Inland offering and subsequently entrust us with the entirety of their logistics needs, from door-to-door.

Your responsibilities:

  • Evaluate customer potential and conduct Inland Sales Planning     
  • Continuously improve the customer portfolio by securing new Inland business with untapped Inland customers, not currently tackled as part of the Ocean sales
  • Cooperate with your Ocean Sales counterpart to ensure that all Inland potential of existing accounts is exhausted
  • Support the Ocean Sales Executives in their Inland sales activities for their existing accounts with your (technical) expertise
  • Review customer performance with respective supervisor and define appropriate actions
  • Prepare and conduct visits, report and follow-up on visits via Salesforce
  • Conclude Inland contracts for your customers (proposal, negotiation, closing)        
  • Drive Inland business for foreign controlled customers wherever possible and adhere to Push-Pull process        
  • Selectively engage in tender management discussions where relevant (e.g., tender guidance and negotiations, special commodity market rates, etc.)
  • Provide customer feedback on Inland offering to all relevant internal stakeholders to ensure competitive pricing as well as required product coverage

Your profile:

  • Successfully completed commercial training or comparable studies in Business, Commerce, Sales, Engineering, Logistics or similar
  • Several years of professional experience in shipping, forwarding or logistics ideally in sales and/or customer service
  • Excellent understanding of Inland transport, as well as ocean shipping markets
  • High level of initiative, ability to work in a team and assertiveness
  • Well established sales mentality and strong communication skills characterized by a high level of customer and service orientation as well as negotiation skills
  • Very good written and oral German and English skills
