Food, machinery or T-shirts: Hapag-Lloyd moves goods around the globe with over 250 container ships. We connect more than 600 ports on all continents and are one of the largest liner shipping companies. More than 13,000 employees work on board, ashore or in one of our 350 offices. Together, we transport around 12 million containers per year. Our corporate values "We care. We move. We deliver" serve as coordinates on our way. They guide our collaboration with each other as colleagues and with our customers to achieve the best possible quality. In the long run, we are committed to climate and environmental protection as well as human rights and many other social issues.

About us:

What is the fastest way to route a shipment of pharmaceuticals from Daegu, Korea to Kumasi, Ghana? How should the optimal price of a shipment dynamically change based on the available routes? How can we proactively change routes depending on the space which is available on our vessels or given operational constraints in the ports?

In the exciting environment of global trade, questions like these drive our business. The QBE (Quotation and Booking Engine) project is the once-in-a-lifetime chance to shape the future of Hapag-Lloyd. We are doing this by connecting our product offering close to the quotation, booking, routing, and allocation management processes and thereby realizing a whole new customer experience while being able to steer our business way better than today.

To achieve this, we are dramatically improving multiple IT components in an agile way with state-of-the-art technology, including the Shipment Routing Engine which determines how we optimally move twelve million containers per year from port to port and door to door.

Be part of the change and join us in QBE!

We are looking for you as Solution Designer (m/f/d) for the Shipment Routing Engine in the Digital Analytics workstream of QBE. The Digital Analytics workstream ensures that the business innovations of QBE take full advantage of the many opportunities of data: automating and optimizing with the help of advanced analytics and state-of-the-art operations research models, providing the right data for business steering, and taking process concepts to the next level.

As a Solution Designer (m/f/d) for the Shipment Routing Engine, you will…

  • Radically simplify and rethink our current mechanisms/ algorithms for shipment routing
  • Work closely together with the Product Owners (PO) and business experts from all workstreams to define and prioritize the business requirements
  • Follow the rollout end-to-end from ideation to implementation in the operative systems and subsequent trainings of the end users
  • Liaise with IT Products to transform the concepts into productive long-term solutions

Your Profile:

To be successful in this role, you should…

  • Have experience in either supply chain management, business/ process analytics, or the sales side of container shipping
  • Be excited about challenging the status quo, coming up with creative and innovative solutions and working conceptually
  • Be interested to take over ownership in a dynamic project environment, lead working groups and to work independently on our project deliverables to deliver them at the desired timeline
  • Be able to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders in the business- and IT teams
  • Have an assertive personality and be able to convince relevant stakeholders in the organization
  • Feel comfortable presenting results and project status updates to involved partners and stakeholders
  • Have excellent command of spoken and written English

German language expectations: We expect all international candidates to be willing to learn at least the basics of the German language in case they are accepted for the position. This will enable you to participate in social and community life in Germany and at our company premises in the best possible way.

We offer:

  • Challenging tasks and the opportunity to develop solutions of which you are convinced
  • Extensive project experience (first-hand experience how IT implementation and future technology work)
  • Ownership from concept to implementation
  • Competitive remuneration (thirteenth salary + vacation pay)
  • A minimum of 28 days of vacation, flexible working hours, capital-forming benefits, company pension plan
  • Centrally located between the main train station and Jungfernstieg as well as subsidy for public transportation
  • Blended work model that offers you the possibility of working from our headquarters (3 days/ week) or working from home (2 days/ week)
  • Bicycle leasing
Health and company sports programs (e.g. yoga, sailing, company doctor, etc.)
