Our IT teams are one of the strategic factors for Hapag-Lloyd’s global success. Our core system „FIS“ (Freight Information System) is among the most advanced software when it comes to container line ERP software. A special focus lies on our cluster “Customer Service & Niche Products” with the following work streams:

  • Customer Service Documentation: Document Indexing, MTD Creation/Draft Cycle, Document Monitoring and support of our organization by workload management & monitoring
  • Customer Service Import: Import documentation, container release, oncarriage handling, monitoring of container release at terminals and return at depots
  • Invoice & Dispute: Creation & handling of all Hapag-Lloyd invoices and management of related disputes and complains
  • Niche Products: Operative handling and support of commercial products when it comes to dangerous goods and special

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Together with your colleagues from our business departments, you will be analyzing complex business processes and find creative solutions to existing and new challenges
  • You determine requirements for new and existing IT products in an agile environment
  • Your support is needed to create a modern architecture and to migrate our products into a cloud environment
  • As part of the team, you take over responsibilities for the team’s product and its success
  • You will be collaborating with colleagues and teams from around the globe on a daily basis

Requirements and Qualifications

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or comparable
  • Proven experience in requirements engineering in an agile context
  • Proven experience in analysis and modeling of use cases and business processes
  • Good knowledge in specification and documentation as well as methods (UML, Epics, User Stories, Product Backlogs) and tools (we use Confluence and Jira)
  • Good knowledge in agile development for industrial software
  • Proven analytical skills and willingness to learn every day
  • Genuine interest for technology and architecture – we really like to discuss the different technologies and solutions that we’re using
  • Good communication skills, independent working style and ability to be a team player
  • Very good command of written and spoken English
  • On-site work for at least 3 days/week in our new, modern IT office in the heart of Hamburg’s city center

German language expectations: We expect all international candidates to be willing to learn at least the basics of the German language in case they are accepted for the position. This will enable you to participate in social and community life in Germany and at our company premises in the best possible way.

Nice if you have:

  • Understanding of container shipping business is an advantage
  • Experience in Cloud Environments (AWS/ Any other Hyperscaler, Terraform)
  • Experience in DevOps (Jenkin, Artifactory, Maven, Gitlab/ Github)
