As part of the „The Alliance“ network, Hapag-Lloyd connect the world across oceans with a fleet of more than 200 owned and chartered modern container vessels. As part of our Fleet Management and Maritime IT department, the Fleet Analytics team provides a comprehensive set of high-quality data around Fleet operations and performance from a wide range of data sources ranging from sensor data collected live from the operating equipment to reports provided by crews or 3rd party vessel managers. On this diverse data, we run analyses and reports supporting key strategic initiatives like our Fleet Upgrade Program (aiming to reduce CO2 footprint of our fleet) or CII reporting.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Execute our strategy for the future analytics of operational data collected on our fleet of container vessels and the surrounding operations
  • Help shape our future analytics capabilities and toolkits by designing and providing the underlying IT infrastructure
  • Consolidate various operational, technical and commercial data sources to derive patterns and support future management decision-making
  • Analyse cross-functional business requirements and manage IT projects delivering our future fleet analytics suite
  • Unlock potential through the identification of use cases in fleet operations supported by analytics

Requirements and Qualifications:

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. IT, industrial engineering, logistics, business administration)
  • Strong project management skills (certification like PMP or similar a plus)
  • Strong analytical skills with high affinity for numbers
  • Good knowledge of standard BI and analytics tools like Qlik, Tableau, Python
  • Understanding of basic data science concepts and willingness to learn more
  • Experience in integration of IT systems / data sources into a homogeneous data lake infrastructure
  • You are proactive and results-driven, able to work under pressure with a positive attitude
  • Fluent in written/spoken English and with good communication skills

German language expectations: We expect all international candidates to be willing to learn at least the basics of the German language in case they are accepted for the position. This will enable you to participate in social and community life in Germany and at our company premises in the best possible way.

Nice if you have:

  • Understanding of and/ or experience in container shipping business
  • Understanding of HL IT products
