Team and Project overview:

The Application Infrastructure Support Team (AIS) was founded in December 2021 and it is still growing.

We are responsible for incorporating of every 3rd party application needed by Hapag-Lloyd employees into Company Portal (Endpoint application package creation) for endpoint user laptop/PC. We are also supporting backend applications on Linux and Windows Servers (eg. Hafas, Jenkins, etc).

The focus of our developing team is on implementation of new things, automation, maintenance (3rd lvl support).

Part of the Team was delegated to support Hamburg Release Management Team and they are responsible for new application releases (ex FIS3).

For this exciting journey, we are hiring highly skilled & motivated colleagues who would like to be part of this endeavor and join the Application Infrastructure Support team in the role of IT System Engineer to keep our systems up and running and to advance modernization as part of our IT strategy.

Our team specialists have wide-range knowledge in the areas of IT administration skills, we are looking for you to join and support us as well. :)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support internal project teams with consulting, design, setup, provisioning and handover to the production of systems for new IT products
  • Ensure operational stability and resilience of our Linux and Windows based systems and software components during the whole life cycle including various type of management (eg. change management)
  • Planning, coordination, implementation and testing in case of major updates (OS and software) in cooperation with internal project teams, providers and vendors
  • Continuous improvement of the status quo e.g. due to optimize provisioning of infrastructure and software by improvement of automation capabilities.
  • Support internal project teams with troubleshooting in our system landscape in case of incidents and problems during office hours - no 24/7
  • Usually once per month, our team need to provide on-call support at Saturday, on the production environment update window (voluntary, additional reimbursement will be provided)
  • Working closely with experienced engineers in our team and tight cooperation with IT colleagues in Hamburg as well as our operations provider and software vendors
  • Build and maintain of application packages (Endpoint) to roll out our development tools. Improvement and maintenance of the distribution process to our developer Windows machines, including troubleshooting and resolving of issues
  • Documentation of methodologies and best practices for application packaging and rollout


Requirements:

  • BSc/MSc in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent experience in IT, maritime industry, or international logistics company
  • Very good knowledge in setup of reliable and enterprise-ready infrastructures and middle ware software e.g. Data Bases, Messaging-Tools, Application Servers, HTTP Server and other 3rd party software
  • Experience of Linux/Unix operating systems in a managed enterprise environment, i.e. installation, configuration and support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems
  • Experience in network management, i.e. basic configuration of the operating systems and knowledge in troubleshooting of networks issues.
  • Familiar with CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment)
  • Willing to collaborate with operations providers and software vendors
  • Excellent analytical skills and eagerness to learn
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English

  • High communication and coordination skills
  • Experience in requirement analysis and design of high availability IT systems
  • Experience in IT operations especial among the ITIL processes
  • Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Agile mindset, experience in Kanban
  • Polish language skills are welcome
