Overall Job Purpose

This is an L5A position reporting to the Managing Director - Area India.

The incumbent is responsible for Strategy, Investments and Sustainability within Area India (India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka).

The objective of this role is to work with stakeholders to develop new models of growth that are inclusive, sustainable, transformative, and collaborative to shape our organization's long-term strategy and develop measures that realize our business and sustainability objectives.

Job Specification - Key Accountabilities

Strategy & Investment:

  • Manage and follow up on local, regional and global strategic initiatives.
  • Constantly evaluate our short and longer-term strategy.
  • Make detailed investment proposals when required.
  • Ensure strategic deliverables.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with government officials.
  • Assessing market trends and competitors.
  • Monitoring and reporting on projects.
  • Supporting and guiding senior executive decision-making processes.
  • Assessing organizational performance, developing achievable goals and implementing processes that improve organizational effectiveness and build a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Work closely with Area India and global teams for capability enhancement.
  • Assist in business development in the front ending as well as for proposals and pitches.
  • Planning and executing the research and analyses requirements.
  • Planning, implementing and managing proposed recommendations and projects.
  • Aligning departmental goals, processes and resource allocation with the organizational strategy.

Sustainability:

  • Be part of, or lead a team that implements sustainability advisory & training projects and will support Sustainability Knowledge Group to deliver impeccable quality that adds value (time, process, deliverable).
  • Provide exceptional support that builds trust, confidence in our expertise, and reputation.
  • Manage and deliver advisory projects including sustainability assessment and strategy, reporting, Social Return on Investment, stakeholder engagement, programs, green building, assurance, training
  • Identify, recommend and lead improvement initiatives based on gaps, opportunities, client requirements, global trends and market benchmarking.
  • Project manage and deliver annual sustainability reporting projects for clients in compliance with international standards, guidelines and frameworks (including GRI, UNGC, ISO26000, SASB, SDGs)
  • Oversee sustainability report development, ensuring alignment with company guidelines, trends, stakeholder input & concerns and corporate strategy & directions
  • Write accurate and compelling content for sustainability reporting projects
  • Research on various Sustainability topics to monitor research and developments in the field and create a Sustainability Road Map for Area India.

Qualifications and Technical Job Requirements

  • MBA
  • 10 -15 years industry experience in Shipping and/or Investment industry
  • Mature leader with good communication skills
  • Proven track record in leadership positions
  • High integrity and ability to manage challenging environments
  • Experience in financial projects
  • Asset knowledge
  • Stay up-to-date of emerging trends and best practice about sustainability
  • Understanding of key sustainability issues and how they can be integrated into business to create measurable value.
